Charlie Kirk Shooting 'Subject' Released from Custody: FBI,
Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot near the neck and killed Wednesday during a student Q&A at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
Kash Patel, the FBI Director, announced on X that a "subject" that was taken into custody after the shooting was released at approximately 8 p.m. ET. A large manhunt continues in what has been called a "political assassination" of the young Turning Point USA founder.
President Donald Trump announced Kirk's death in a post on Truth Social: "The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"
